Supervisor
Dr. Michelle Klautau
Full Professor at UFRJ and affiliated with the Postgraduate Program in Biodiversity and Evolutionary Biology (PPGBBE) at the Institute of Biology, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).
Currently, she is editor of Calcarea for the World Porifera Database (WPD - WoRMS), editor of Porifera for the scientific journal Zootaxa, a "Scientist of Our State" (FAPERJ), and a Research Productivity Fellow at CNPq (Level 1D).
Since 1986, she has been conducting research on marine sponges (phylum Porifera), with a primary focus on the class Calcarea. Her main research areas include Taxonomy, Phylogeny, Molecular Systematics, Ecology, and Cellular Biology of Porifera.

Postdoctoral researcher
Dr. Anaira Lage
Postdoctoral fellow supported by the FAPERJ Nota 10 program and affiliated with the Postgraduate Program in Biodiversity and Evolutionary Biology (PPGBBE) at the Institute of Biology (UFRJ).
She conducts research on marine sponges from the classes Homoscleromorpha and Demospongiae (phylum Porifera), focusing primarily on the following topics: Taxonomy, Systematics, and Biogeography of Porifera.

PhD student
M.Sc. Sara Emilly Pereira
PhD student at the Postgraduate Program in Biodiversity and Evolutionary Biology (PPGBBE) at the Institute of Biology (UFRJ).
Develops research with calcareous sponges (Class Calcarea, phylum Porifera), working mainly on the following topics: Taxonomy, Phylogeny/Molecular Systematics, and Biogeography. Her PhD thesis focuses on the diversity of Calcarea in the Macaronesian archipelagos (Northeast Atlantic).

Postdoctoral researcher
Dr. Matheus Vieira Lopes
PhD in the Postgraduate Program in Biodiversity and Evolutionary Biology (PPGBBE) at the Institute of Biology (UFRJ), with a research period at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU), Germany.
Develops research with marine sponges (phylum Porifera), especially from the Calcarea class. He works mainly on the following topics: Taxonomy, Molecular Systematics, Population Genetics and Evolution of Porifera. He is editor of Porifera (Calcarea and Hexactinellida) for the Taxonomic Catalog of the Brazilian Fauna (CTFB).

PhD student
M.Sc. Isabella França de Lima
PhD student at the Postgraduate Program in Biodiversity and Evolutionary Biology (PPGBBE) at the Institute of Biology (UFRJ).
Develops research with marine sponges (phylum Porifera) of the Calcarea class, working on the following topics: Taxonomy, Molecular Systematics and Biogeography. Her PhD thesis focuses on the diversity of Calcarea in South Africa and the oceanic islands of the South Atlantic.
